VISION STATEMENT
Educate, advocate, and celebrate
diversity...
MISSION STATEMENT
The Unitarian Universalist goals of equality and justice
inspire the mission of the Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender (LGBT) Task Force of
the Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Church (CLUUC). Our mission is to
integrate the goals of the Living the Welcoming
Congregation initiative* into the ongoing life of our
faith community and beyond. We seek to build relationships and foster awareness
of LGBT life, culture, and families through activities that:
-
Encourage
acceptance of LGBT identity in oneself and others;
-
Nurture
understanding, respect, and dialogue among LGBT persons and the larger CLUUC community;
and
-
Help make the
world safe and equitable for members of the LGBT community.
The principles**
underlying our mission include believing in the inherent worth of each
individual; respecting, valuing, and celebrating diversity; and actively working
for peace, liberty, and justice in the
CLUUC community and beyond.
*Living the Welcoming Congregation is an initiative of the Unitarian
Universalist Association.
**These principles conform to the seven principles that provide the underpinning
of the Unitarian Universalist Association.
The
Task Force typically meets from 7 pm – 9 pm on the third Thursday of the month.
