Alternative Giving

The Alternative Giving Program is maintained by the International Concerns Coalition (ICC), a subcommittee of Cedar Lane’s Social Justice Council.  The mission of the ICC is to build on the congregation's shared commitment to the ideals of justice, peace, freedom, compassion, and service to those in need in countries around the world. The ICC helps translate commitment to action by providing information and support to the Cedar Lane community, and other communities as appropriate, that are working to address international concerns.

The ICC has the responsibility to identify and select specific projects for the Alternative Giving Program at Cedar Lane. Each year,
nonprofit international organizations are nominated by Cedar Laners for inclusion in the Alternative Giving catalog. Cedar Laners and
others can donate to one or more of these organizations in exchange for an acknowledgment of that donation, which can be sent to an identified giftee. Donations are accepted after each service from November through December. The ICC welcomes proposals from individuals and RE classes.
