Music Committee
Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Church
On behalf
of the Music Committee we are pleased to present you with the included results
of the congregational survey of the Music Program conducted in June of this
year. The results were shared with Henry as they came in, so that he had the
earliest opportunity to make any adjustments to his future music programming as
might be appropriate.
We believe the results in general reflect that the Music Program continues to be
an integral part of life at Cedar Lane, and that the individual responses show
that people have strong feelings about using music during Worship.
The survey was the result of the very hard work and considerable smarts of
Leslie Backus, Susan Clark, and Ariel Mora. At Ariel's suggestion we used
Survey Monkey to offer and analyze online responses. We were very pleased with
the result and recommend that the Cedar Lane consider use of this or a similar
online service in conducting other congregational surveys.
The Committee conducted a substantially similar poll in February of 2009. Below
is a comparison of the congregation’s answers to questions one and two as given

Question 2: Some people enjoy
congregational singing, learning rounds or new hymns, joining the choir on
choruses, and so forth. Others do not. How do you feel about the level of
