"A Living Wage"
Rev. Abhi Janamanchi & DC Labor Chorus
Worship Associate: Greg Falcigno
A job should lift everyone out of poverty, not keep them there. But in the U.S. today, fully one-quarter of all jobs pay poverty level wages. What are the benefits of paying a living wage? What are the disadvantages? Why is it important? The service will investigate.
The DC Labor Chorus is a musical ensemble representing union members and community activists from the Washington, DC area. Some members of the Chorus are professional musicians but most are people who just love to sing! They sing for rallies, demonstrations and picket lines. The Chorus welcomes union members to the annual Great Labor Arts Exchange each summer and holds an annual "Sacred/Favorite Songs" concert every winter as well as a community benefit concert every spring. They are a non-profit organization.
