The Rev. Heather Janules serves Cedar Lane as the Assistant Minister
and Minister for Pastoral Care. Called in 2005, Heather graduated with a
Master of Divinity from Meadville Lombard Theological School (www.meadville.edu,)
a Unitarian Universalist seminary. In her preparation for the ministry, she
served as the Intern Minister for the Unitarian Universalist Church of the
Lehigh Valley (www.uuclvpa.org)
in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and completed two units of pastoral care training
in Chicago. While all the ministers and members of Cedar Lane provide care
to those facing hard times, Heather's ministry is defined by ensuring that
everyone in the community has opportunities for supportive companionship.
Raised in a nominally Catholic family in New England, Heather discovered
Unitarian Universalism at the historic Arlington Street Church in Boston (www.ascboston.org)
as a young adult, the congregation that eventually ordained her into the
ministry.
A "Gen X spinster," Heather's home in Takoma Park includes two incredibly
spoiled cats and a tribe of birds that regularly visits the feeder on her
patio. Her new hobby/spiritual practice is finding beauty in everyday life
and trying to capture these images through digital photography. You can see
a selection of some of her recent photographs here:
