On November 2 the Cedar Lane Choir will mark its annual Service of Remembrance by joining with singers from the Unitarian Universalist Church of Silver Spring to present Clif Hardin's Requiem. Mr. Hardin, Director of Music at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of River Road, composed his epic work in 1993 in the likeness of the Christian mass of the dead. His selection of texts from eighteenth and nineteenth century poets addressing grief, faith and remembrance reflects Unitarian Universalist values and beliefs. With a full orchestra and soloists the eleven movement work represents a major cornerstone in Unitarian Universalist choral repertoire. We invite all to enjoy this music in memory of departed loved ones and friends.
The Sunday Morning Forum offers members and friends an opportunity to discuss a broad range of contemporary issues and explore their ethical and religious dimensions. We meet at 10:10 a.m. in the Chalice House.
November 2: Earthjustice: Defending Our Right to a Healthy Environment. Earthjustice, the nation's largest nonprofit environmental law organization, uses the power of law and the strength of partnership to protect people's health; to preserve magnificent places and wildlife; to advance clean energy; and to combat climate change. Ms. Mary Whittle, staff attorney, will discuss Earthjustice's commitment to preserve community access to the courts.
