BLOG: VOICES FROM CEDAR LANE
Just one and a half weeks into having Rosa as our Sanctuary guest, and the Sanctuary Leadership Team is grateful for how fast and fully our congregation has stepped into volunteer roles. From Dec 23 - Jan 6 we especially are short of and have urgent need for additional daytime and overnight companion volunteers in shifts to make it easier for everyone to enjoy their holiday plans and still ensure Rosa has full support. If you have not taken on a role as a companion to Rosa as yet, please sign up in the Lounge after services this Sunday or email firstname.lastname@example.org. This need is ongoing as long as we have Rosa in Sanctuary. Right now it's Cedar Laners who will carry us through the holidays. In the new year, other congregations will join our efforts. SAY YES to #WeSupportRosa.

Members interested in helping out with office tasks also are needed. The Sanctuary Team will connect you to our excellent crew leaders for hospitality, interpreters, security, and communications. Our crews are up and running well with prepared, easy instructions to aid first time volunteers.
Rosa is adapting well to her new home. She has a delightful spirit and deeply-held strength and faith. Visits from her children bring great joy. She has been having media interviews almost daily and from the start is an excellent spokesperson. Rosa is enjoying the company of our volunteers and is beginning to take part in Cedar Lane events. She already is planning her own activities and daily schedule. We are so fortunate to have Rosa here with us; she is more than our guest; she is our partner in Sanctuary and our valued friend.
After the holidays we will start welcoming friends from other congregations to volunteer with us. We are grateful to have the experienced staff of the DMV Sanctuary Congregation Network and Faith in Action to guide us, and its member congregation colleagues bringing their ready support. We also are receiving many calls and letters of encouragement from people as close as Cedar Lane neighbors, colleagues from throughout the faith community, and strangers - now new friends - from across the country.
In gratitude and hope,
Sanctuary Crew Leaders
