Cedar Lane is pleased to be hosting another photo-text exhibit from Family Diversity Projects. "Pioneering" Voices" includes photographs and interviews with people of various ages who identify as transgender along with some of their partners and children. Through first-person accounts and positive images, this exhibit seeks both to challenge damaging myths and stereotypes about transgender people and to celebrate a range of views, opinions, and experiences that are unique and empowering to transgender people everywhere.
"Pioneering Voices" was created under the auspices of Family Diversity Projects by Smith College intern, Jack Pierson, who took the photographs and interviewed the individuals. Peggy Gillespie, Editor-In-Chief of Family Diversity Projects collaborated with Jack Pierson to create the interview text.
The exhibit will be on display in the main entrance vestibule of the Cedar Lane for the month of October and the first two weeks of November. Cedar Lane members and visitors are welcome and encouraged to to view the photographs and read the accompanying stories.
